The clamping strength from the claws together with your climbing strength help you move upward, please note that hugging the tree and move upward is not a correct way.Try to choose those trees with diameter of 10 inches to 20 inches to practice. Should start learning on trees with very hard skins, it would be quite difficult to make it. Once you have mastered the way, you will climb any trees like a cat
